Large Vintage 8lb Stoneware Butter Crock

This stunning very large salt glazed butter crock stamped "J. & D. Gowans Merchants Perth" is really something special.  The jar is very large and stamped 8lb made by W Buchan & Co Portobello Scotland, in fabulous condition and is ready to be used.  They make perfect pots to hold utensils, or as a planter for herbs or plants, or spectacular with blowsy flowers or dried seed heads.  They look amazing grouped too. 

These pots are rustic and no two were ever the same with unique glaze differences and makers marks, lumps and bumps, making them idea for farmhouse, rustic kitchen styles/shabby chic.
