This beautiful Mid Century Large Clear Glass 'Dimple' Vase by Frantisek Peceny for Sklo Union. This is one of a number of items produced by Peceny for Sklo Union this is one of the largest vases.
This beautiful heavy glass vase is decorated in horizontal bands of panels featuring concave lenses, and was made in the Bohemia region of the old Czechoslovakia at the Heřmanova Huť glassworks.
The vase is shown in Marcus Newhall's book 'Sklo Union - Art Before Industry: 20th Century Czech Pressed Glass' where it is identified as pattern #20040 and attributed to the designer František Pečený. The design was first introduced in a smaller size in the late 1950s, but this larger version was introduced in 1960.
The Heřmanova Huť glassworks near the Bohemian town of Plzen was founded in 1907 by Carl Stölzle & Sohne, and by the 1930s it was producing most of Stölzle's decorative glassware. The factory was nationalised after the Second World War and in 1958 became part of the Sklo Union group.
