Original etching by J.W. King
Original etching by J.W. King
A beautiful signed engraving by J. W. King, British artist (1868-1935)
Showing street scene to a church with spire. In original frame but no glass.
Early 20th Century.
This has been lightly cleaned, given a new mount and tape and the frame restained and waxed.
Would look fabulous as part of a collection of vintage paintings and prints.
About J W King
John William King and his wife Emilie, also an artist, lived at Briar Cottage, Back Lane, Holywell, Huntingdon by 1908. They lived in an area of great natural beauty on the river Ouse where a colony of artists had gathered to live and paint. St Ives had its own artists' colony between 1880 and 1930, and at the same time Scarborough and Staithes in Yorkshire became a focal point for artists. By 1924, the Kings had moved to live and paint in Yorkshire.
